Four Generations | An Extended Family Session in Kellnersville, WI

I’ve been photographing Amber and her sweet family every single year since I started my business—eight years ago! It’s honestly one of the greatest joys of my work: growing alongside the families I photograph and getting to witness their story unfold through the seasons.

This year’s session was a little different—and extra special. We planned an extended family shoot, bringing together her kids, her parents, and her grandparents for a beautiful four-generation moment. I’ve photographed their full extended family before, but this one felt especially intimate and meaningful.

We shot in Kellnersville, WI—a bit of a drive from my usual Wausau area sessions—but 100% worth it. Amber chose her grandparents’ house for their location, which was perfect with plenty beautiful landscaping. The storm clouds rolled in just before we started, and for a moment we weren’t sure we’d be able to pull it off. But the skies cleared just in time, and we had the most gorgeous soft light to work with.

The kids were full of energy and curiosity, especially when it came to my camera—there may have even been a couple of honorary photographers in training by the end of it. 😉 We captured everything from snuggly grandparent hugs to playful candids of the littles, and I’m so happy with how the gallery came together.

Sessions like this remind me why I do what I do—why it’s about more than just pretty photos. It’s about legacy. Connection. And the little moments that are so easy to forget but so worth remembering.
